Ms. Miller has over 6 years of experience in geotechnical foundation investigations and environmental assessments and consulting. Ms. Miller has served as a Project Engineer for numerous geotechnical engineering investigations such as subsurface investigations, soil surveys, bridge, wall and light tower foundation investigations and pavement evaluations. Her duties include the management of multiple projects, performing all required geotechnical engineering analyses, and providing necessary geotechnical design recommendations. Ms. Miller has experience with engineering analyses including roadway, shallow foundation, deep foundation, retaining wall, and miscellaneous structure design. Recommendations include soil suitability for roadways, feasible shallow foundation options, anticipated settlements, slope stability and retaining wall stability with corresponding construction options.
As a Project Engineer in NOVA’s Engineering Group, Ms. Miller conducted construction materials testing and inspections such as footing, subgrade and proofroll evaluations and concrete reinforcing steel and formwork inspections. Ms. Miller analyzed subgrade conditions and made recommendations for remediation when necessary. She performed quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) duties to ensure accordance to project specifications and requirements during installation of foundation systems including shallow soil and rock footings, augered cast-in-place piles, micropiles, driven piles and rammed aggregate piers.
Ms. Miller’s environmental consulting experience includes performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Limited Subsurface Investigations, Underground Storage Tank Release Investigations, Hazardous Site Response Investigations, and contaminated soil investigations for various industries. Her responsibilities include site reconnaissance, regulatory agency record reviews, groundwater monitoring well installation oversight, soil and groundwater sampling, and data analysis and reduction. All sampling and field measurement procedures are completed in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 Field Branches Quality System and Technical Procedures. Ms. Miller prepares environmental assessment reports with any necessary remediation recommendations based on field and laboratory data in accordance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
As a Project Engineer in NOVA’s Engineering Group, Ms. Miller completed Georgia Environmental Policy Act compliance checklists and reviews for municipal, county and state entities to determine potential environmental impacts of construction activities. She performed Risk Hazard Assessments for potential State of Georgia educational facility sites to assess environmental and hazardous conditions that could affect the safety and health of students. Ms. Miller also conducted Hazardous Building Material surveys to identify and inventory potentially hazardous building materials prior to renovation or demolition activities.
